Who I Am...

My name is Adrian Myers and I run for the Indiana Invaders, with a goal of being one of the best middle-distance runners the U.S. has to offer. Prior to becoming an Invader in the summer of 08', I ran for a small Division II school outside of Chicago where I graduated in 2008 with a degree in sports management and business administration, while earning All-American honors in Track. I currently work full-time for Indiana University at the Tobias Center for Leadership Excellence. I have been hired on as the IUPUI Jaguars cross-country Assistant Coach for the 2009 season (GO JAGS!). Also, I am currently enrolled at Adams State (Extended Studies) pursueing my Master's degree in Human Performance. All of which I hope to provide me with the foundation and experience to make strides towards my ultimate career objectives.

Running has been a central motivator in my life since my junior year of high-school. I came from a program that taught us more about being competitive rather than worrying about mileage and barn burner workouts. In college I had seven different "coaching arrangements" and an injury plagued 4 years that included an achilles tear. These things all in all made it very hard to both train and train in any form that one would consider stable/consistent. If not for my high-school coach John "Blood" Axelson and a couple of great coaches (Rick Wemple and Brayce Forsha) that I spent a short amount of time with in my college career. I may have given the sport up do to my achilles tear plus its slow recovery and residual effects. But, they believed more in me than I ever believed in myself at those times of physical and emotional frustration of trying to come back. They kept me in the sport and guided me to where I am now. Through all of the ups and downs I owe it to both myself and all those that have believed in and supported my goals and dreams...

So here I am in the post-collegiate running world trying to make it. With the initial goals of returning to 100% health (or atleast 99.9% ha-ha) and attaining U.S.A. national success. I am striving towards those goals under the guidance of Coach Greg Harger with the Indiana Invaders a successful Olympic/National Development Program based in Indianapolis.

I may have not taken the most direct route to reaching success, but that doesn’t mean I have to ever give up on reaching my destination.

Thank you for visiting my page!
