About Event

Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation for Childhood Cancer today announced the addition of a 5K run to its list of popular events throughout the year. Appropriately entitled, The Lemon Run, the event is slated to include a 5K run, a two mile family fun walk, and a kids’ race on Sunday, October 25, 2009 at Ridley Creek State Park, Media, PA.  Participants are encouraged to register in advance, but can also register on the day of the event.

Running enthusiasts and all supporters of the battle against childhood cancer are invited to participate or attend the event. The run and walk fee for those who register in advance is $20 per person, and the kids’ race (10-years-old and under) is $5 per child. Fees the day of are $25 and $10 respectively. Those participants who want to start their own team to honor a cancer fighter or to create unity are encouraged to do so. As an added incentive, the first 500 people to register will receive a free limited edition Lemon Run t-shirt.

The day’s festivities will also include various forms of entertainment, music and guest speakers. Awards will be given to the fastest male and female runners in the following age groups: 10 and under, 11-14, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, and 50+.  Check in the day of the event begins at 7:45AM, the kids’ race will start at 8:30AM. All other events are slated to begin at 9AM.

In addition to the actual event, those who wish to participate, but are not in the area can run or walk where they live. By registering as a virtual runner or walker on TheLemonRun.com, and completing a 5K run or 2 mile walk for October 25, 2009, runners and walkers across the country and world can participate too.  Virtual participants are not eligible for timed race prizes, but do qualify for the fundraising contest and t-shirt if they are within the first 500 to register.  Prizes will be awarded to the top individual and team fundraisers.

For more information on the event, to volunteer, register, or become a sponsor, visit www.TheLemonRun.com. Additionally questions can be directed to Jennifer Kelly at (866) 333-1213 or JenniferKelly@AlexsLemonade.org.

About Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation

Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF) emerged from the front yard lemonade stand of cancer patient Alexandra “Alex” Scott (1996-2004). At the age of 4, Alex announced that she wanted to hold a lemonade stand to raise money to help find a cure for all children with cancer. Since Alex held that first stand, the Foundation bearing her name has evolved into a national fundraising movement, complete with thousands of volunteers across the country carrying on her legacy of hope. To date, Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation, a registered 501(c)3 charity, has raised more than $25 million towards fulfilling Alex’s dream of finding a cure, funding over 100 research projects nationally.
