So kipketer ran about 48.1 for the first lap in this video of the '97 World Record setting? That means he ran about 52 for the second lap? I guess negative splits aren't always the way to run an 800!

Thanks for your comment on the pic of Chasm lake trail - there are few better things in this world than to be on a run, feeling connected to myself and aware of my body working, while taking in scenery like this. What the oicture doesn't tell you is hwo clean the air is up here - it is like breathing nectar!
Good luck with you training and thanks for RunnerSpace - it's a great site!
You may know Melody Fairchild as well? We are working together here in Estes Park on high school girl and adult running camps. An amazing and inspirational woman and athlete.
