Who I Am...

I am the head coach of SUNY Plattsburgh's Men's and Women's Cross Country and Track & Field programs. The purpose of making this page is to provide another avenue of communication to my athletes. I also hope to add some information over time that may be helpful to the running community. I am going to try and stay regular on a personal blog, as well as stay regular on news pertaining to our programs here at Plattsburgh. Over time I will collect photo albums and video albums pertaining to the Plattsburgh State team.

Last Chance for Last Chance

We have attended the New Balance Collegiate Last Chance Invitational at Icahn Stadium since it's inception back in 2005. Every year the meet director and/ or its staff has found a way to mess up the order of events, mess up the heat seeding, fall behind, break rules etc. I almost decided to head 2 hours west to St. Lawrence this weekend but wanted to give this meet one last sht to get it right. I shouldn't have. The meet started on time (for once), actually ran ahead (for once), but before the 800m was the finals for 100m men and women and 110HH and 100H. Well, it took them over an hour to do these races and the meet was soon over 20 min behind. the 800's then went off without much of a hitch, besides seeding errors. Then the 200m finals took 20 min which should never take that long. I then was looking forward to some fast 5km races. Granted, the meet director has never followed through on making these races fast, part of me wanted to believe they would be fast this year. NOPE. Probably due to nobody wanting to run this meet anymore because by the end of the meet they are always over an hour behind. Well it showed, with a winning time barely sub 18 min for women, and nobody sub 15 min for men. The men's 5k is a whole other debacle as they split it into two heats ON THE STARTING LINE! They then took 15 min in between the two heats for an unannounced decathlon 1500 with two men in it that couldnt have been close to qualifying for anything. So the fast heat is now 1.5 hours after its scheduled start time. Which bring us to the final event the 4x400, which was stalled even longer because they staggerred it 3 turns but didn't have the cones for the break line, so now cones were placed on the track except 1 in lane 1. Well the cone was placed in the wrong spot.

Goodbye Icahn stadium, or "Ichan Stadium" as the bib numbers read (wrong sp.), we will not be at your meet ever again.

Welcome Coach! Let us know if you have any questions. And way to get after the news article, it's impossible to know everything that's going on but with the help of the running community, maybe we can get close!
