Seriously though, the pleasure comes from running with the pack. Tommy and I were reminiscing about the Middle Fork just last weekend.
Besides, I need some serious coaching with my summer responsibilties and you all are well suited for the role biggrin.gif

With OG, myself, and Harold not getting much done now
in the way of mileage or running fun, and Colby right there
chomping to be turned loose, it is very nice to see Dave
and JJim out in the hills really getting after it.

Davey is willing to take as much time as he needs, and
keeps knocking off Nebo after Nebo ........ quite amazing.

J J ? OG has been powering hills for a long, strong time now,
but Ginger elevated to another level when he non-stopped
the steep fork on Parsons. Its been done maybe twice
before by anyone we know ........ I sure haven't come close.
So Sat Solo saw the J J fitness display . Impressive.

Part of me would like to see him go run some good races, and yet
I sense that he's enjoying the process more than any results.
He has a major event coming up this summer (not running
related), and so we'll enjoy this time with him ........ at least
watching, and be glad to have such 'talent' in our group.

May we get some days when the pack meets again in numbers.

My "Pimp Your Run" routes always include hills/trails and end with donuts, mexican gatorade, and/or beer...and they're free of charge!

BTW for a guy who had already busted out 14-15, Ginger made those hills look like speed bumps...he should be running Pikes Peak marathon, not Eugene rolleyes.gif

"Pimp Your Run" - Professional training support provided by Colby (aka Solo) Phillips.
Great new program, I highly recommend it! Solo mapped out a tour of my favorite urban paths, and joined me for an ass kicker end where he smack talked me through the final hill climbs. It's humbling, character building and about when I was ready to crumble......it was donut time! Let him pimp YOUR run, you won't regret it!

During a brief chat with OG last night, he thought
my comment below indicated some displeasure with
the new MRTR direction. Not so at all. I think those
guys are doing a great job keeping the event going.
I sure made changes along the way during my years,
and I would expect the same from Mark and Brad.
Got to keep up with the times, and yet try to keep
the original concept alive, and they're doing that. smile.gif

Jrun has alerted us to the new MRTR registration plan.
The world is an ever rapidly changing place, and even
runs in the woods cannot withstand the forces that work
to bend traditions. Not a good thing or a bad thing, just
another example of trying to cope with the hordes who
all want to participate. I think they had to adjust, and they
have. We can still run in the woods. Enjoy it.

Harold. Nice Triathlon. Swim seemed like tough duty for sure...BTW I've been fighting nausea for 8 days and that's why I've been MIA.

Made up for it today though. Woke up feeling good finally up here in Portland. I'm at a conference. So I busted up to the Wildwood and ran an awesome 6 miler in perfect weather. The trail is 98% dry, even OGG would have enjoyed it! Hopefully the good stomach sticks around.

I have been assuming my training wasn't on track to run the Eugene marathon (assuming I don't employ the Jrun 1 month regime). On my drive down last night I realized I still have two months (Ginger, remember?). So decided to collect some data today. FMP became FMPL ......... we made it as far as the powerline,
took a left , and descended to finish the loop. Moon, as you
may have noticed, outstanding tonight. My calf asked not to
go to the top, and Harold divulged, for starters, that his achilles
has also become an issue ......... lot of that going around.
It was a nice night to be out, even if all we could do was walk.

But our cover is blown, we just like to go out in the dark and
drink and jawjack for a couple of hours. Our 'group therapy'.
Mission accomplished. Have a good week. tongue.gif

I propose that the Coyotes start planning for a pack run in Ireland in 2012. Start saving your pennies, and nickels and quarters and come over to the Emerald Isle. What thinks you all? Would anyone be interested? smile.gif

Ben...There is! Lane County Parks publishes an excellent folded brochure called Guide to: Howard Buford Recreation Area with Trail Map. The inside shows a map of the whole park with all the trails and corresponding numbers. The back has a full description including name, number, length, and restrictions if any. Available through Lane County Parks or FBP. Let me know if you struggle to find one, I have extra copies....Rev Harold

Good news was I dodged a Harold's Odyssey through the serpents and sirens of Cirque de Pisgah
