Eli,
Thank for the comments. Being our first I am excited yet very scared. I wonder if I can do this and be a good parent. I see so many children with parents that do not care about their children's future.

Goood to hear! Trav definately knows what he's talking about in reguards to training. I owe him a lot of thanks for getting me through this last season. Im doing well, I have two races left and am in pretty good shape, so we will see how they pan out!!! No real big summer plans, just working and saving up for school next year. Have a good week!!!!

Hi Eli

Thanks for your comments on my blog! I wish you every success with your half marathon in may - which one do you plan to race? It's great that you have included running in your life - it is a wonderful way of keeping in shape, achieving goals and connecting with other like minded people.  Also a great way of inspiring others! iSounds like you have a great support team working with you - go Eli!! I'll be posting a new blog this week - keep an eye out for it!

Take care
Terry

Schedule for the Week:

Monday- 45 minutes EASY, 6 x 100m strides, CORE

Tuesday- OFF, just strength train and X-Train, no running

Wednesday- 15 min warm up, Minutes- 4 x 3 on, 2 off, 15 min coold down

Thursday- 50 minutes, CORE

Friday- 15 minute warm-up, 25 minute of HILLS, 10 minute cool down

Saturday- 30 minutes really easy

We got time, just have to get on it......next week we'll do a threshold run (real fun). The long run is the MOST important part of the training for sure, so we gotta get that in this Sunday.

Schedule:

Thursday 2/7- 15 min warm up, then 6 x 400m (one lap on S. Eugene track) in 2:00, 1-2 min rest, I don't think you will need much rest, but take whatever you need, this is more about getting a feel for 8 flat mile pace, which is what I think you can run for that 4 miler. After diong six of them....cool down for 15 minutes, stretch, elevate legs or ice.

Friday 2/8- OFF or EASY 20-30 minutes

Saturday 2/9- 25 minutes EASY, 4 x 100m strides, real good stretch and ice bath

Sunday 2/10- RACE, you are going to do amazing. Just really focus on starting off at 8:00 mile pace....should have a good feel for this after Thursday's workout and the rest will take care of itself. 4 miles is nothing, you have been running longer than that on many training runs.

Monday 2/11- Easy 30-40 minutes

Tuesday 2/12- OFF or lift w/ Bryan or X-Train if you can't help but workout, NO RUNNING

Wednesday 2/13- 15 min w/u, MINUTES workout of 4,2,4,2,1, 15 min cool down, CORE

Thursday 2/14- 50 minutes EASY, Lift w/ Bryan

Friday 2/15- 15 min w/u, HILL repeats for 20 minutes, 15 min c/d, CORE

Saturday 2/16- 30-40 minutes EASY

Sunday 2/17- 65 minutes

Hi Elinor! Thank you for your comment on my training log.. So, for the wistle drill, Pretty much its a 20ish minute fartlik type of workout, except Travis positions himself in a place where all of us can hear his wistle, when the wistle blows, we run at about an 80-90 percent pace. The intervuls are about 1min - 3minutes with a nice restish intervul to follow. The cool thing about this workout is that we dont know how long our "hard" intervul is going to be.. I really love these because its hard to over think yourself into a bad workout. As for finding a trick to enjoying your long runs.. Well, for me I just try to find a running buddy. If I cant find one, then I make it a point to switch up the locations of my runs, this makes it harder for me to get bored. The Ipod day was an experiment, I dont think Im going to do it much more.. I like to be aware of my surroundings.. Its hard when I cant hear whats going on around me.. Happy running!!!
