Quotes

"Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education alone will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan "press on" has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race."

-John Calvin Coolidge

Ghost town

Rome is a ghost town in August.  From about the 12th until the end of the month everyone gets out of town leaving it, well, perfect!  I can run by many of the monuments on the hill and not see anyone - A moment I crave all year long.  What I wouldn't do to freeze this month in time.  No traffic, pollution, noise.....

Just a small bit of what I hope to find in my near future.  I shall be searching for stateside jobs until I find one that is suitable...and then I'm coming home.

R u talking about Rome,OR or the actual Rome?  There's a town called Rome 90 miles SE of Burns here in Oregon and it's pretty much a ghosttown all the time.

Heather, I remember you as a high school superstar (I taught at Hidden Valley HS for a while).  So many of your races were filled with drama- You always seemed to challenge yourself to such a high level - I was a big fan.  It's good to see that you have pursued such high adventure in your life!

You are moving back to the states? Do you know where? I'm pretty bummed you won't be up on the mountain, that is for sure. It was so much fun having you up there last year, you have to come back in 09.

Ciao signora! Non so se mi ricordi, ma è mi nel tuo video di Steens.  Potresti me lo mandare?  La danza è una bella memoria! Oh, e potresti mandare il video di Jeff? La mia squadra di Columbia devono vedere come buon ballerino lui è. Come va in Roma? Andrei al Steens la questa estate? Prendersela con calma!

Heather. THANKS. I need all the motivation I can get right now...so I appreciate it. The season is going well....it is weird that it is quickly approaching crunch time now. Coaching is really difficult, but I think I have prepared them all to do their best. We continue to get pr's as the season goes along...so I hope I'm doing things right. That's pretty exciting that you're going to have the squad there for a week or so. That will be a blast. I wish you were coming to Steens again this year....but I understand it is a long ways to travel. How is your running going? I don't see any training logs anymore.

Hi Heather

Thanks for your comments on my pic - believe me the real thing is abosultely stunning.  There have been times running trails here that my legs stop working and tears flow when faced with a view that absolutely and literally takes your breath away.

I see that Melody Fairchild has been an inspiration to you - small world.  She is also an inspiration to me too! We are working together on high school girl and adult running camps here in Estes Park, Colorado - see my website for more.  She is an amazing athlete and still an inspirational woman with loads more to come for the world!

Happy running!
Terry

Anyway hope all is well, what is the next running goal?

Welcome to the site Heather.  Nice Steens videos, I miss that camp...

I checked out your design site (I know, I am a nerd).  Well done!  It said to ask for tutorials suggestions, so here is one.  Show people how to make a cool repeating back ground image in photoshop like you have on your site...

You should use that as your bg on this profile page...  Just pop this code into the css box on your profile design page.  I just thought it would look cool...

body {
background-image:url(http://www.heather
mariemiller.com/images/heather.gif);
background-attachment:fixed;
background-repeat:yes-repeat;
background-color:#000000;
background-position: bottom left;
