Who I Am...

My first love is my wife, Sarah.  And...my second love is RUNNING.  I make sure not to confuse the two, but my wife might on some days accuse me of doing just that.

I have been running since 1994 when my HS Coach convinced me that I was a runner and not a basketball player.  I love to run and have been very dedicated ever since with the exception of a couple of years.  In the past year I have run races between one mile and the marathon and I enjoy mixing up the distances.  Running truly provides me with the grounding I need to live my life and it's just a blessing to be able to RUN.

Finally back on RunnerSpace

Well...I have not written in a year and a few days.  After Eugene I ended up moving from CA to Indiana and battled an IT band/hip injury for the better part of 10 months.  I was able to finally get the injury in check and ran a surprisingly good time at the 500 Festival Mini-Marathon in Indianapolis.  Now that I can train at full strength again, I am looking forward to seeing what I can do this year.

I do not have a lot of time to write, but I'll just say this about injuries.  I think all Runners dread going through injuries.  Running becomes so much a part of our individual fabric that it's tough when a runner cannot run.  I've battled a couple injuries over the years, but last year's was by far the worst.  If there were two things I learned they were (1) go get help sooner rather than later and most importantly (2) running is an absolute gift that should not be taken for granted.  I was handed a strong reminder of these two points last year.

Hope to post more on here.  Hoping for some nice injury free running....
