Doing high mileage, iceing, resting, eating well, things couldn't have been going better. Until, a certain pain started bothering me. At first I try to ignore it, and hope it goes away, but then I realized, it started getting worse. Simply skipping one workout wasn't going to make it go away. Taking time off was the last and least wanted solution to my injury, but it was required. Bad thoughts about not concluding the season were running through my head. At this point, mileage was obviously at zero. Iceing eight times a day didn't seem to work. Resting/sleeping now seemed pointless without workouts. Eating well was the last thing I was worried about. Things really started to fall apart. In a sport where it is REQUIRED to be mentally tough, it is very easy to lose it when things don't go our way. Our Minds are just as tough as our workouts, but our bodies are as fragil as a leaf. Once our bodies collapse, it is very easy for our minds to go with it. The thought of losing everything that you worked for can be very heartbreaking and frustrating. Many people have told me about staying mentally tough during a workout, but nobody warned me about the mental breakdown I can have after an injury. GuestbookNewsNo news found
