I picked up hurdling in the 11th grade and under the coaching of Kevin McEvoy instantly took to it. After two years at the hurdles I finished my high school career with a personal best of 14.00. I am currently competing for Rutgers University in the 60m HH and 110m HH. You can occasionally catch me in the stands with a video camera. Latest Blog Update
Because Westman made me
For those of you who don't know him, Ryan Westman is a pretty cool dude. He hooked me up with a video camera and told me to start recording. If you are competing at a meet with me on the East Coast you should expect to see your race posted on this site. Despite hooking me up with the awesome task of filming track meets, Westman has forced me to blog on an occasion where I regrettably have nothing pressing to blog about. As such I am taking this occasion to educate any reader who may come across this blog on an experiment which anyone (runners in particular) can participate in. Whatever event you compete in you will inevitably suffer from moments of extreme thirst. Although water is the obvious cure for such an ailment, as athletes, the American media machine has told us that sports beverages represent the better - and more expensive - choice to quench this thirst. I personally like to grab a Fruit Punch Gatorade, although the dark and light blue ones are also pretty good. Anyway, the first word that generally comes to mind when sports drinks are mentioned is Gatorade. Why not? You can't go to an athletic event without seeing a huge orange cooler whose contents you can only hope are not overly diluted orange flavored (which they usually are). The alternative to Gatorade is obviously Powerade. It is a little known fact that Powerade is usually cheaper and is also pretty tasty. This past weekend a teammate of mine urged the team to drink only Powerade as he saw improvements in his performance as a result of doing that exact thing. Interestingly, three members of the team ran personal bests using this formula... I don't completely buy this theory. I will, however, be buying alot more Powerade in the future. KG | Guestbook
