Komen Race for the Cure®, is the largest series of 5K (3.1) mile fitness runs/walks in the world. The Komen Foundation is one of the nation's largest private sources of funding of research dedicated solely to breast cancer. Seventy-five percent of the net proceeds fund community projects related to breast health education and breast cancer screening and treatment. Such projects are based on the specific needs of each community as determined by a needs assessment performed by the local Komen Affiliate.
