In addition to what Doug said, don't risk parking near the track ... you will get ticketed. Lots of coaches made that mistake last year, assuming parking patrol would turn a blind eye.

I spent half an hour circling the neighborhoods, looking for a spot -- all my old team van favorite spots were no longer usable -- and finally turned around and drove home as any further searching or parking at Autzen and walking/running over would have caused me to miss the main race I was down there to see. I'm glad the OSAA at least acknowledged the fiasco and added the shuttle service this year. Maybe next year they'll make it more frequent once they've seen what works and what doesn't.

This will be my 14th consecutive year going to the Oregon HS championship meet but the first time I'm likely to use a shuttle bus. The parking situation, especially on a weekday, really makes this a must.

I advise everyone going to take a good hard look at the OSAA's shuttles from Autzen Stadium. I'd prefer they were more frequent than 30 minutes apart, but if push comes to shove you can walk to Hayward Field from Autzen in less than 30 minutes.

But the combination of going to six classes and the increasingly restrictive parking situation really could make things difficult trying to find a spot in the neighborhood.

I've been looking forward to the 6A Girls 3k all year. Now that several all-time Oregon record attempts have met with success at the SWC district meet, I'm curious if we'll see some real fireworks when everyone finally goes head to head? (Too bad Tsai is sidelined this year, else we'd have a 5th girl aiming for the 9:30's!)

Gone are the days when 10:05 gives you a good shot at the win...
