Who I Am...We are the Chieftain Runners of Rogue River Oregon. Rogue River has a winning tradition throughout the history of both XC and Track and Field programs. It started in the 70's with Bill Williard who lead several mens and womens teams to state titles. Most of our Hall of Fame athletes who hold top ten marks in both cross country and track / field were predominantly coached by Bill Williard. Later in the 80's Stan Goodell coached under Williard and found many years of success leading into the late 90's. Goodell lead the women to winning 5 state titles and several shatted records. Currently we are in a new classification moving down from 4a to the 3a league. This league will be very enjoyable competing against schools of our actual size. Here at Rogue River we are looking at bringing back our tradition and rewriting history and once agian reclaiming our success by winning state champioships and crowning state champions. Recently, during our 2008 track season the Rogue River Track Team crowned its 25th state champion in the 800m. Cole Watson who jsut missed the 4a 800m state record by a few tenths of a second won the state title and shattered Jim Howarths 22 year old school record of 1:56.09. Cole only a sophomore, has hopes of claiming a district team title and a state team title. The lady chiefs are in a building phase but they are young and tough our oldest female member Dakota Coldsmith is a sophomore and the rest are freshmen. Dakota who is the female Varsity captian hopes to build this program back up. Lady ChiefsDakota Coldsmith Sophomore Captian Stephanie Schultz Freshmen Lindsey Miguel Freshmen
