Who I Am...

About me... I am really bad at these kinds of things.  I tend to talk way too much.  Okay, the low-down:  I'm from Denver, Colorado.  Born and raised.  My family is kind of psycho (I do love them and visit often) and in a futal attempt to excape the maddness, I moved to Oregon for college.  There I ran for Pacific University, XC and track (I graduated May, 2007 with a degree in Biology).  My entire time at Pacific, myself and one other girl were the only two females to run all 4 years.  I'm used to training alone, however, I hate it.  I love running, but having company is deffinetly better then being alone.  I'm pretty slow at shorter distances but have eternal endurance, making me the ideal lo, typical, long distance runner.  My goal is to break 3 hrs for the marathon, but I know that won't be for a few years being that I have never run a maraton before (I'm only 24 for god sakes!).  For now, I am going to stick to 10K's-half marathons.  I am a little worried about my ability to race such long distances because I have a horrible stomach and digestive system...I honestly don't know if I could make it without having to stop to use the restroom...but I'll figure that out when the time comes.

I'm currently living in Portland, Oregon in St. Johns.  Yeah, its kind of out there and most people do not know where it is.  It is right across the river (taking the St. John's bridge) from Forest Park.  I am like a 5-10min drive from the Lief-Erickson trail head on the Germantown side.  AWESOME.  If you ever want to run, let me know!

Lets see...what else...I am a second year medical student.  I just got done with my first year in Mesa, AZ and now I am back in the NW for the rest of school.  I am planning on becoming an amazing osteopath and in my training, have learned a lot about healing the body.  If you have any injuries and are in the area, I would LOVE to help out!  If only I knew what I know now in college...

Of course I still run EVERYDAY. Running in Arizona was definettly...well...an interesting experience.  It was pretty much HELL in the summer, but kind of nice in the winter.  I mean, I was out in a sports bra and shorts in the middle of January!  However, if you have never been to Phoenix, AZ, don't bother going.  Its no great shakes.  Trust me.  You should, however, go to Flagstaff!  There are tons of great places to run there and it is SO BEAUTIFUL!

As for hobbies besides running, I am addicted to traveling and try to have adventures as much as possible.  My last adventure was Japan, Singapore, Thialand.  AWESOME.

I also love poetry, long walks on the beach, and have a nack for making a complete fool of meself whenever the opportunity presents itself.  Wink

Good Idea-Bad Idea

Good Idea: Running 10 on Lief-Erickson when it is 60 degress at 5:30pm on a September evening in new shoes in the mud...AWESOME.

Bad Idea: Eating a huge cucumber with fresh garlic humus a half an hour before the run.  Good going down, painful and nastey coming up.

Yeah running alone blows. You went to Pacific? Did you by chance discover the reason why the meet personnel there are such whiners about runners taking too long to get into their blocks? :-D
