Chia Seeds
by Mama Clemons Want to have the strength and endurance of the Raramuri "the running people" of northern Mexico? Try chia seeds! This is a true superpower food which is SO easy and affordable to add to your diets. Since I have already recommended chia seeds as a supplement to many atheletes I have decided to purchase in bulk at wholesale price. Please contact Mama Clemons or Coach Clemons if you would like to purchase Chia at a discount price of $10/lb (this will last you at least a month!). Below are the main nutritional benefits of chia seeds: Chia seeds were considered medicine and were actually prized more than gold due to their incredible health enhancing properties. Chia seeds are thought to be the richest provider of Omega-3 fatty acids and soluble dietary fiber that we can add to our diets. The protein content is enough to meet the full amount of daily protein required in our diet. This tiny seed also provides us with vitamins B, C, E and calcium. • With six times more calcium than milk, and with greater amounts of high-quality protein than the one found in soy, Chia also helps strengthen muscles and bones. • They have three times more iron than spinach. • Chia seeds have two times the protein of any other seed or grain. • The chia seed has three times more antioxidant activity than blueberries. • They are one of the best sources of fiber. They are fabulous colon cleansers and actually clear out the digestive tract so that you absorb more nutrients and eliminate waste more efficiently. They also prevent indigestion and heartburn without risk of harmful side effects. • They improve endurance, keep the body hydrated and your electrolytes balanced. • They have incredibly high levels of Omega-3 and Omega-6, both of which are essential for brain function, reversing depression, and overall health. • They help stabilize blood sugar levels – excellent for diabetics. • Chia seeds are great if you’re trying to drop a couple of pounds. They bulk up food, make you feel full and they also cleanse the body of old “junk” so the body can detox effectively. • They are packed with calcium and contain boron, which is a trace mineral that helps calcium get into your bones. This is what you can do with them: Chia gel Whole Seeds Comments (0) Posted: Feb 12 2010, 04:29 AM
A note from Melissa's Mother
by Coach Clemons
Dear Students, Parents, and Coaches,
You are all amazing! I am overwhelmed by the support you have demonstrated to Melissa and Liam. I appreciate all of the thoughtfulness: the meals, babysitting, housekeeping, the kind notes of support, and your prayers. The girls have been so kind spending time playing with Micah too. While the chemo is certainly unpleasant, I am so glad to hear her breathing regularly again and look forward to her continued recovery. Mama Clemons is fortunate to be surrounded by such a loving team!
My sincere thanks, Bertha Duncan (Nana)
PS How could I overlook the boys shaving their heads!!!
