I overlooked this from last weekend, but Andrew Bachelor from FSU went 2.20m at the Jimmy Carnes Invite in Gainesville. Looks like a huge PR - previous best of 2.10(i) and 2.13(o) according to FSU's website..

Once again, what happened to Grant Lindsey? Jesse, didnt you live with him last year. Is he training, competing, hoping to get back into school somewhere? I thought I read something about him attempting to enroll at OU at some point.

Thanks man. I appreciate it. As soon as we get some results I am going to send them in to jesse to post on here. But for the time being we are just keeping up with what's going on. Looks like there are some young jumpers coming along that could very well be the next phase of USA high jumping on the international scene in a few years.................Barbiaz, Nick Ross, Kynard, Druin (spelling?), Lindsey and a few others that I left off..................Also waiting to see how James White does this year. He is the kid out of Missouri that jumped 7'2.5" or better 3 times in 10 days. With a 7'5" clearance in that grouping. Have not seen him in any indoor meets yet. Hopefully he will be at Nike indoor. ............................

Hey guys I really would appreciate it if yall kept on sending in your results this year. It is difficult now trying to find results from all over the country I am doing the best I can. I have a few sites that I look at but still can't seem to find all the meets. Thanks for everyone's help!

My bad. I meant to put 2.41 instead of 2.40 because I realize that he did clear 2.40 last year. No, you haven't seen anything from my son yet. Had some clearinghouse issues. He will be competing unattached in some events once outdoor season begins and will be jumping for Coffeyville next season.............. Will be doing some local stuff just to gauge progress. Right now we are targeting the TSU meet in March as his first outdoor jumps in a legit meet. If he continues to progress in workouts and all goes well, we are looking for a new PR at TSU..........

Trevor Berry (unattached) 2.19
Matt Fisher (Minnesota) 2.19
Jeramy Geditz (NDSU) 2.14
Derek Gearman (Unattached) 2.14

Geditz also went 2.17 the weekend before back in North Dakota. Kid is pretty solid.

I think Ukhov is going to jump over 2.40m this year and yeah his 2.41m attempt was really close. I sure would like to know what type of training he does. I heard some of the russian jumpers go through intense training getting ready for the season.

I was wondering why it wasnt on tfrrs.com..
and thats weird for a team to do that anyway.. i dont get the coaches decision..

Manjula jumped 2.25 last year, was third at NCAA's, and competed at the OLYMPICS. I don't think a second place ranking that far-fetched.

Jan 21 2010, 01:28 PM, Guest wrote:
I disagree with Manjula being second, he has a big PB but his track record at the big meets does not reflect that. There are some great young jumpers that I think are gonna show big this year. If Tone Belt stays healthy- he has the experience and ability to be top 3 too

Jan 20 2010, 12:45 AM, Guest wrote:
Robertson shouldn't be ranked above Tone Belt and Major Clay. Maybe I'm biased having watched both of them jump several times but I feel like they have been much more consistent and had better PB's more recently than Robertson. This year could be a big year for Belt, being his second year off injury.

in the top rankings I just dont see how Paul Hamilton right now is up there...with 2 jumps at 7' just doesnt seem to have enough other high jumps to have that credibility to be up there with those 2 jumps so far...didnt wanna throw anyone out there but other than that it looks pretty good..

Looks like I'm competing Saturday in Boston at an open meet.

Haven't really trained much specifically for high jump since quitting college track, but I've been staying in shape still. Just looking to get back into the high jump and have fun. I'm gonna come in at a low height and work my way up maybe every other height (ex: opening height is 5'4 and i jump that then pass to 5'8 then to 6' etc..)

I actually don't know what the opening height is, but it's probably about 5'6". I registered for the meet with a seed of 1.83m - 6' even though I have jumped 6'6" in the past.

Also got a real nice new singlet/compression shorts for a new look tongue.gif

Wish me luck, and I wish everyone here luck for the indoor season.

Penso....you have to keep a balanced training routine. Only lifting is going to throw off your training at this time of the season. You must ease yourself back into training allowing your body a train at a level that it can handle. I would recommned playing BBALL if you want a quick fix. Just be careful!

I think the Big Ten looks to be the best high jump conference this year. Many big names and its deep.
The NCAA Regional Meet is going to be pretty ridiculous. There is going to be something like 40 high jumpers in each region. I am glad I wont ever have to compete in such chaos again!
