Who I Am...I'm deeply infatuated with running...it helps me keep my sanity! My other hobbies are skiing, riding dirtbikes, boxing, hiking, going to the shooting range, going to the beach (warm beaches preferred), road trips, shopping (of course!), playing on the computer, reading, educating myself, my pitbull pseudo-child, saltwater reef tanks, photography, painting/drawing, gardening (trying to at least!), movies, music, blah blah blah, and...cooking food that's healthy- but doesn't taste like it is! (You've gotta love food that feels like you're cheating, but you're really not!) I'm almost vegan, except that I eat eggs & salmon occasionally. I'm a health food SuPeR FrEaK! I'm also a Whole Foods addict...I know its a "grocery store", but I can spend HOURS in there!!! Umm...yeah, that's about it...if you'd like to know anything else..just ask! ♥

Nutritional/Fitness Question...
If anyone knows the answer to this..or you have any clue...please feel free to comment! So, I've been trying to get a 6 pack..by diet & working out...at first it was a little experiment, so I quit running for 2 months to see if JUST diet alone would work..I just cut out almost all sugar from my diet, and I live on TONS of whole grain stuff, tons of veggies, healthy fats, hemp protein powder and occasionally some salmon. I've lost 2% of my body fat so far & have gained lots of definition, however...I really miss running & I know it will help me lean out faster because it burns more calories than anything... So I went for a run, and I felt HORRIBLE within the first 2 miles...if I'm eating normally, I can run 5-8mi very comfortably, no problem. Without the sugar, my legs were cramping, all of my muscles felt sore & stuff & I had to slow down dramatically from my normal runs...I know it was the lack of sugar, because I was WELL hydrated, had just had a piece of toast 30 min before I ran... I'm wondering if running while I'm on my anti-sugar crusade is shorting my muscles of glycogen, and causing my body to use MUSCLE as fuel! Also...I've read lots of articles about how other people lean out, and they eat pretty much the same diet (they eat chicken though)...but they do 30-45 min of cardio also...so does that mean they're feeling poopy like me also??? I really have come accustomed to not eating any sugar, and don't miss it at all...if I plan on continuing this...will I be struggling through simple 2-3 mile runs forever?!? Doesn't your body adapt to you not having any sugar..and just makes you more efficient at using something else to fuel your muscles..and if so, what IS this new 2nd choice fuel?? Also, people trying to lose bodyfat % AND keep their lean muscle also lift weights & work out in this sugar free condition...Can they not work out as well as if they were to eat sugar or complex carbs?? UGHHHH...its so confusing...I need to hire some kind of professional trainer/sports nutritionist to figure this all out for me!!!! ANY help or personal experiences would be greatly appreciated! |
