You should volunteer for these races out of the respect for the sport, not because you feel like you owe it back to the race that pays you.  I have also worked many of these VIP port o potties and have NEVER seen an elite working them.  It's typically Brooks folks and volunteers from the accounts in town.  I respect the disagreement with competitor but don't EXPECT sympathy. As a race director I appreciate not only your talents- but how you did give back to the sport and Competitor group. For all the comps I have given to elite athletes I can count on one hand the amount of times they've come back to volunteer at another race I direct.
