OTC Elite To Travel To Stanford For Payton Jordan Cardinal
Invitational
Eugene, Oregon
– The Oregon Track Club Elite will travel a
strong contingent of athletes to Palo
Alto, California this
weekend to compete at the Payton Jordan Cardinal Invitational. The prestigious event will be held on May 2nd at Stanford University’s campus at the Cobb Track
and Angell Field.
In the men’s middle distances, Mark Wieczorek will make his
outdoor season debut in his signature event, the 800 meters. This will be Wieczorek’s first two-lapper
since finishing as the 2009 USA Indoor Runner-up in February. The OTC Elite will also be represented in the
1,500 meters by Don Sage.
In the men’s distance events the OTC Elite will have a strong
presence in both the 3,000 meter steeplechase and in the 5,000 meters. The Payton Jordan Cardinal Invitational will
mark the season debut for three OTC Elite steeplechasers. Ben Bruce, Tom Brooks and 2008 Olympian, Billy
Nelson, will each look for strong early performances in their specialty
event. In the men’s 5,000 meters the OTC
Elite will be represented by another strong trio of Ryan Bak, Louie Luchini and
Stephen Pifer.
