Sean Donnelly of Ironwood Track Club won the men's invitational hammer throw with a personal-best 253-3 (77.20m) in the sixth round to set meet and facility records at the 25th Beach Invitational at Long Beach State's Jack Rose Track. Donnelly produced the best throw by an American male athlete since 2012, becoming the 10th U.S. hammer thrower to surpass 252-7 (77.00m) in his career. Donnelly also elevated to the No. 4 performer in the world this year.
