Suhr and Rogowska to challenge Isinbayeva in Zürich – Samsung Diamond League

Zürich, Switzerland - Just days before the IAAF World Championships get underway in Daegu, two stellar pole vaulters have been added to the Weltklasse Zürich line-up: Jennifer Suhr of the USA, currently the world leader at 4.91m, and Poland's reigning World champion Anna Rogowska.

At the moment, the provisional entry lists for the 13th stop on the Samsung Diamond League's 14-meeting series set for Thursday 8 September includes the world leaders in each of the 18 events scheduled for this year’s edition.

The women’s Pole Vault will be one of the highlights in Zurich. The nine athletes of the 2011 top list will be there to provide the fans in the north bend of the stadium with an exciting pole vault parade. All competitors in the event have jumped 4.70m or higher during the current season. In addition to Suhr (4.91m), and Rogowska (4.75m), World record holder Yelena Isinbayeva (RUS/4.76m), the new German record holder Martina Strutz (4.78m), and the leader of this year’s Diamond Race Silke Spiegelburg (GER/4.75m) will be competing. The two Swiss World Championships starters Nicole Büchler (4.50m) and Anna Katharina Schmid (4.45m), as well as World junior record holder Angelica Bengtsson of Sweden (4.57m) will round out the prestigious field.

The standing area in the north bend of the stadium is an ideal position to watch the pole vault competition from up close.

Last week, the Weltklasse Zürich promoters announced the provisional entry list for their 2011 programme of events. The impressive entry lists include 14 (individual) Olympic champions, and 16 reigning World champions. Weltklasse Zürich will be the first major meeting after the World Championships which will begin this Saturday, 27 August, in Daegu, Korea.
