OTC Elite's Geena Gall wins Husky Classic 800

SEATTLE -- Geena Gall won the women's 800 meters, Stephen Pifer and Ian Dobson showed well in the men's 3,000, and coach Mark Rowland called it a "solid" showing for OTC Elite at the Husky Classic on Saturday.

Gall, a second-year pro out of the University of Michigan, won the 800 with ease -- clocking a time of 2 minutes, 4.36 seconds. It was her first 800 of the year.

"Geena's race was was nice and solid," Rowland said. "She cruised it. We were hoping to run a bit faster, but it was very comfortable for her, so in that context, it served its purpose."

Dobson and Pifer placed 13th and 15th amidst a deep 3,000 field -- Dobson running a 7:54.39 and Pifer coming in exactly one-second behind in 7:55.39. Tim Nelson, who runs for Portland's OTC Elite squad won the race in 7:49.95.

"The boys were solid. They looked comfortable at that pace," Rowland said of both Dobson and Pifer. "It's been awhile since they competed and they looked a little rusty. We wanted more as far as the result, but as far as their training, it wasn't that bad."
