FRESNO >> The group that often found itself overshadowed by the success of its female peers for the past seven years finally had its moment in the spotlight at Woodward Park. After a pair of runner-up finishes in the past three seasons at the Division II state cross country final, the Saugus boys cross country team secured its first championship Saturday, turning the tables on reigning champion Westlake with a 110-139 victory over the Warriors. “It’s definitely a united group and a bunch of blue-collar guys working toward a common goal,” Saugus coach Rene Paragas said. “There has been so much focus this season on the so-called fall of the girls dynasty and these guys have just anonymously gone about their business winning CIF, dominating the competition and this is their reward.” Read the full article at: www.dailynews.com
