Yes, this Manhattan team is very, very good. They won the Rim Rock classic earlier this season as well which is a pretty big deal. I don't know if their 27 points at the 6A state meet is a record but it is up there. The girls of Saint Thomas Aquinas (5A) and Lawrence Free State (6A) are pretty darn good as well.

Five in the top 11 for Manhattan on Saturday, which I know I overlooked a bit.

They are looking very much like a contender for an NXN berth.

Is that one of the best Kansas teams in a long time?

What makes Rim Rock Farm's course special?

Perhaps its just the nostalgia on my part but the course is built on a farm formerly owned by KU coaching legend Bob Timmons. The land is used solely as a cross country course and it is extremely well maintained. The course features some of the most scenic running I have ever seen with changes in elevation, plenty of tress, ponds, bridges and hills. It has been decorated with several silhouettes of KU running legends Billy Mills, Jim Ryun, Wes Santee, etc…

Its just an absolutely beautiful course and I'm glad we host the state meet there every year (since 1992). 1998 NCAA Nats were also held there.

Wrigs ... I updated the first post with Jacob Morgan's best Rim Rock state time and course record.

Let me know if you think that's not accurate but that definitely seems like an appropriate change and improvement.

What makes Rim Rock Farm's course special?

I'll try to look that up today. Unfortunately they have changed the course over the years so it definitely runs faster now than it did when they were first using it in the early/mid 90's. But it is a beautiful course, everyone should try to come run it or watch a meet here once in there life.
DougB
Wow.... thanks for the clarification on that.

So what is the fastest boys time at Rim Rock since 92?

Newkirk also ran 15:19.7 in 1990.
Wrigs77
The 1991 state meet was snowed out and then run a week later as a road race on a shortened course because the snow never melted. Therefore, that 15:08 is not the actual meet record. The meet was then moved from Manhattan's Warner park to Lawrence's Rim Rock Farm where it has remained since 1992.
