Track To Host Free Youth Clinic at UW Football Game

Top athletes and coaches will work with kids at the PK Park Experience.

EUGENE, Ore. – The University of Oregon track & field team and the City of Eugene will conduct a free youth clinic in conjunction with its appearance at the PK Park Experience on Saturday, Nov. 6, prior to the Oregon-Washington football game.

Geared for youths aged 4-12, the clinic at the UO baseball field will begin two hours prior to kickoff. The start time for the football game will be announced on Sunday. The two options for the start time are 12:30 and 5 p.m.

Kids will be instructed by UO athletes and coaches in sprints, standing long jump, hurdles and the “turbo” javelin, and can also participate an “ab lab” to work out core muscles.

Among those UO student-athletes working with the campers will be NCAA champions Brianne Theisen, Travis Thompson, Amber Purvis, Jamesha Youngblood and Michele Williams, in addition to All-Americans Alex Wolff, Mandy White, Jordan Stray and Melissa Gergel, among other current Ducks.

Following the clinic, NCAA champions Ashton Eaton and Andrew Wheating and four-time Pac-10 champion Nicole Blood will join the track & field teams in an autograph session.
