Captains Set 32 Personal Records and 66 Season Bests at Vince Brown Invitational

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - The Christopher Newport University track and field team set 32 personal records and 66 season bests at the Vince Brown Invitational held in the Freeman Center today. Additionally, five athletes entered or improved upon the program's all-time lists.

Senior Jade Zaharoff improved the No. six spot on CNU's all-time list in the women's 5000m with an 18:56.41 run today. Zaharoff beat her personal record in the event set last season with her time today. She finished sixth in the event followed by teammate Erin Rolaf coming in at 18:57.10 and placing herself seventh on the all-time list. Karen Bumiller finished eighth at 19:24.43 putting her ninth on CNU's all-time list.

Entering CNU's all-time list in the No. five spot in the men's 3000m was junior Raymond Gamache with an 8:52.92. The time earned him seventh in today's race. Four William and Mary athletes and one from each Virginia Wesleyan and Richmond took the first six spots.

Junior David Fishman improved upon his personal best in the men's pole vault to a 4.22m (13-10). The score is seventh on CNU's all-time list and was third in the event today. Junior Richard Roethel finished right behind Fishman in fourth with a 4.07m  (13-4).

Junior Jenna Elliot finished third in the women's high jump with a 1.58m (5-2) jump. Teammate Enuma Ezenwa came in fifth with a score of 1.48m (4-10).

The Captains return to action on Sunday, February 19, as they host the Mason-Dixon Indoor Championships.
