USATF Looking For A Few Good Junior XC RunnersPublished by
USATF Looking For A Few Good Junior XC Runners The 2013 International cross country season is rapidly approaching. Tradtionally, these events take place after the USA Cross Country Championships where team selections are made from a descending order list of finishers but this year two of the three events take place before that event. The following is a release from USA Track and Field on the opportunities for junior age athletes (under-20 in 2013) to represent the United States of America this winter: USA Track & Field will be offering three upcoming USA National Cross Country Team Opportunities for Junior-aged athletes (Under age 20 during 2013) during the early part of 2013 [Note: there are also opportunities for senior (over 20) aged athletes on these teams]: Jan 5 -- BUPA Great Edinburgh International Team Challenge (Edinburgh, Scotland) More detailed qualifying and meet information for the juniors is provided below, but in short: the Edinburgh and NACAC junior teams will be selected based upon performances during Fall 2012 events such as NCAA Championships, Foot Locker, and NXN meets (Collegiate athletes redshirting their Fall 2012 season will also be considered; Fall 2012 performances will need to be provided). Senior (over age 20) athletes will select themselves for the the Edinburgh and NACAC senior teams by their finish at the Dec 8 USATF National Club Cross Country Championships in Lexington, KY (meet information available at USATF.org). Athletes will select themselves onto both the junior and senior teams for the IAAF World Cross Country Championships by their finish at the Feb 2 USA Cross Country Championships (meet information available at USATF.org). To be considered for either the Edinburgh or NACAC junior national teams, the athlete (or their coach) must send their name, date of birth, Fall 2012 performances (NCAA, Foot Locker, NXN national and regional-qualifying performances preferred, but the selection committee will review all information), plus athlete's phone number and email, and clearly indicate whether they wish to be considered for Edinburgh, NACAC, or both events, More news |
