congratulations! on your 5k American record
I remember watching you run cross country in high school and being amazed. It has been stated that all great runners are first cross country runners...I like to think that's true.
I am an old member of an 8 man relay team that set a world record back in 1968. We just celebrated the 42nd reunion of our 100mile relay world record in August (still current record). 7:27:55.6. a sub 4:30 pace.
One of my teammates from that relay is a Notre Dame University alumnus, Jim Rycyna who ran xc for Notre Dame in 1968 & 69. I had asked him if he ever heard of Molly Huddle and told him you were one of the top American runners originally from New York. Shortly after that I watched the 5k race on universal sports and saw you set the American 5k record...so thanks for confirming my boast of you so speedily. Thought you would like to know how proud we are of you.
