First Oregon Relays!
Published by
Last years XO invite was huge. I worked the meet as a member of Team XO and seeing that event on the same weekend as the return of marathon running to Eugene Oregon was BIG. This year combining the College and Professional Oregon Invitation with the XO Invite to create the Oregon Relays was something else. We had the chance to speak with a number of great people inside the track and field world about the meet. Andrew Wheating's first sub four minute mile to become the 11th fastest Duck Miler as well as the fastest miler in Vermont History (first sub 4 ever from that state) was something to witness. There are big highlight interviews and performances from Kara Goucher, Gabe Jennings, and new 100/200 start up Ryan Bailey, but pay attention to the other coverage inside. Huge battles between Northwest high school sprint stars Kellie Schueler of Summit High School in Bend Oregon and Kelly Jacka of Bellarmine Prep in Tacoma Washington. - Eastern Washington Universities Paul Limpf runs a huge PR in the 10k to become EWU's first regional qualifier in that event. - Double high school winner in the shot put and discus (AS A FRESHMAN) Ryan Crouser with big marks near 170 and over 57 feet! - The ever interesting Gered Burns gives insight into the differences between the collegiate and post collegiate life of a runner. - 400/800 Cross over Matt Scherer talks about accepting the physical aspects of training for a new event, and Chico State coach Gary Towne talks about Chico's very own sub four performer Scott Bauhs! -Rossco- |
