About Event

University of Oregon students, faculty and staff and the Eugene-Springfield community are invited to a special reception on Jan. 14 to commemorate the men’s cross country team’s 2008 NCAA national championship.

That Wednesday at 5 p.m. in the Ballroom at the Erb Memorial Union (EMU), the university community will join together to celebrate this tremendous achievement. It is Oregon’s second consecutive national championship in cross country; last year’s national title was the first for Oregon in 30 years. Free food and drinks will be served, and the first 300 fans to attend will receive a free Nike national championship T-shirt.

Members of the 2008 national champions and women’s NCAA runner-ups will be on hand, as will Associate Athletic Director Vin Lananna. A small program will follow brief highlights of the national championship competition that was held on November 24.
