OFSAA gold caps solid season for Fenton

Centre Hastings student-athlete twice beat his personal best to capture provincial track title

What a difference a year makes.

Twelve months ago, Centre Hastings Secondary School student-athlete Josh Fenton was meeting with Centurions coach Geoff Courneya to discuss the aftermath of his 2010 track and field season and to determine how to make improvements for 2011.

Today, he's an OFSAA champion.

Fenton captured the boys 100m ambulatory title at the provincial championships held recently in Sudbury, capping an outstanding season that saw him make constant improvements as he advanced from Bay of Quinte to COSSA to East Regionals to the all-Ontario meet at Laurentian University. Twice Fenton beat his previous personal best time of 13.31 en route to the provincial gold medal — 13.26 at East Regionals in Ottawa, then a 13.20 in Sudbury.
