Led by Samuel Pawluk’s 14^th place finish, Point Grey TFC placed fourth overall at the Charles Bowles Willamette Invitational in Salem, Ore. on Saturday, Oct. 1. It was an historic day as it was the first time that Point Grey had entered a full team in a cross country race.

The team totalled 120 points, and averaged 25:17 for the 8-kilometre course. Concordia (Ore.) won the competition with 85 points, while Lewis and Clark (Idaho) were second with 92 points, and Southern Oregon third with 94 points.

Pawluk went out with the front group, before settling into a pace just behind the leaders for most of the way; he crossed the line in 24:51. Behind him, Kerry Kazuta and Ben Thistlewood ran together for much of the race and finished just metres apart, both coming in at 25:00, good for 16^th and 17^th overall respectively. Nigel Hole cracked the top-40 with his solid 25:26 effort (39^th overall), and Ryan Huff, in his first race for Point Grey TFC, had an off day, running 26:10 (75^th overall).
