Athletics Canada names 5 to World Indoors; Dylan Armstrong headlines entry

Tuesday, February 28, 2012

OTTAWA- Dylan Armstrong of Kamloops, B.C., will headline Canada’s entry at the 2012 World Indoor Championships which take place in Istanbul, Turkey March 9-11.  The 2011 number one ranked shot putter in the world and World Championship silver medallist will be joined by Nikkita Holder, Michael LeBlanc, Justin Rodhe and Justyn Warner.

Armstrong is looking to improve on his 4th place finish from the last World Indoor Championships (2010).  “The World Indoors serve as an important step in establishing where I am right now in my preparation for the Olympics.  I have two goals, stand on the podium and set myself up to succeed at the ultimate objective, the Olympics later this summer.”  Dylan is happy that his teammate and training partner Justin Rodhe will join him on the team.  “It’s going to be great to have Justin there; he’s made some real strides and could really surprise people this season.”
