Efraimson breaks HS record in the 1,600
State Meet Highlights Top Performances:
Top Teams:
Top Competition: The well-matched seniors Jonathan Green of Ephrata and Zachary Smith of Olympic went toe-to-toe in very close races in the 2A sprints. In the 100, Green edged Smith 10.61 to 10.64. In the 200, it was Smith getting the upper hand 21.59 to 21.60. Smith also pushed Olympic to the 4x100 title. Green cast his lot in the 400 and finished third there. Record-breaker: Alexa Efraimson came into the state meet feeling like her results hadn't lived up to the quality of her workouts. But that began to change in the 1,600 meters final, where she ran unchallenged into the record books with 4:33.29. That's the 1,600 record and surpasses the best outdoor miles on record as well. Faster than Polly Plumer, Christine Babcock, Kim Gallagher, etc. |
