LSU, Arkansas Win 2008 SEC Outdoor Championships - www.secsports.comPublished by
AUBURN, Ala. -- The Arkansas men and Louisiana State women each
won team titles at the Southeastern Conference Outdoor Track and Field
Championships at Hutsell-Rosen Track, as the four-day event concluded
Sunday. It was Arkansas' 14th overall title, with all coming in the
last 17 years, while it was LSU's 10th overall outdoor title and second
consecutive. Leading after Saturday and most of the day Sunday, the
Arkansas men lost their lead after 19 events. With the 5,000 meters and
4x400 remaining, and trailing by just a half point to LSU, the
Razorbacks scored 17 points in the 5,000 to secure the team title.
Arkansas finished with 131.5 points followed by LSU (122) and Tennessee
(97.5). "It wasn't a huge margin of victory, but it was a victory," Arkansas
head coach John McDonnell said. "This title means an awful lot to me. I
think it means more to the team because they were so determined to win
this meet. These guys were not going to lose this meet and it showed.” Read the full article at: www.secsports.com
