Moussa Leads Top Performances at Arcadia Invitational

In front of his home town fans, Ammar Moussa (Sr., Arcadia, CA) won an amazing 3,200m race on Saturday night at the always magical Arcadia Invitational, crossing the finish line in a US#1 time of 8:49.59. Moussa, who is one of the top seniors in this year's graduating class, used a strong kick to hold off Matt Jablonski (Sr., Loyola, MD), who finished second in 8:50.59. Coming in third, and running one of the fastest Indiana performances ever, was Chris Walden (Sr., Carmel, IN), who ran 8:51.59. Led by Moussa, ten individuals broke the nine minute barrier, showing once again that Arcadia puts on the best regular season distance event in the country.

8:59.85 - Jason Crist (Jr., Franklin Central, IN)

Another top performance came from sophomore sensation Amy-Eloise Neale (So., Glacier Park, WA), who not only won the girls mile by two and a half seconds in 4:48.01, but also finished third in the 3,200m run with a 10:20.84 performance. This double easily ranks as one of the top distance doubles in the country this spring.

While Neale finished third in the 3,200m run, it was freshman Sarah Baxter (Fr., Simi Valley, CA) who stole the show, winning by over five seconds in 10:14.11. Baxter outpaced runner-upJulia Foster (Sr., Albuquerque Academy, NM), who finished second in 10:19.79. StandoutMolly Grabill (Sr., Rancho Bernardo, CA) finished fourth in 10:22.71.

In the boys mile, Jantzen Oshier (Sr., Trabuco Hills, CA) showed once again why he might be the best miler in the country this year. Oshier held off a late charging Matt Carpowich (Sr., Torrey Pines, CA), winning 4:06.81-4:07.15. Junior Erik Harris (Jr., Twin Falls, ID) finished third in 4:13.90, while Kevin Byrne (Sr., Red Bank Catholic, NJ) finished fourth in 4:14.57.

Topping off the top performances of the weekend, Savannah Camacho (Templeton, CA) won the girls 800m dash narrowly over Dynasty Gammage (Sr., Long Beach Poly, CA) 2:08.30-2:08.72.
