Gill to lead New Zealand squad for Lille - IAAF World Youth Championships

Auckland, New Zealand - Reigning World junior Shot Put champion Jackson 'Jacko' Gill will lead a New Zealand squad of ten at the IAAF World Youth Championships in Lille, France, 6-10 July.
Gill, who holds the World Youth Best of 23.86m with the 5kg shot, also captured silver at the inaugural Youth Olympic Games last August, one month after his World junior triumph in Moncton, Canada.

Team roster:
Girls -
Margot Gibson  (Canterbury) 1500 metres

Keeley O'Hagan   (Auckland) High Jump

Melissa-Maree Farrington (Overseas) 100 metres hurdles, Heptathlon

Siositina Hakeai  (Auckland) Shot put, Discus
Merewarihi Vaka  (Auckland) Shot put, Discus



Boys -

Joshua Hawkins  (Auckland) 200 metres, 110 metres hurdles

Brendon Barnett  (Tasman)  long jump

Jackson Gill  (Auckland) Shot Put
Nicholas Southgate  (Auckland) Pole Vault

Pascal Kethers  (Auckland) Pole Vault



The policy allows later nominations and the selectors may add other athletes following the upcoming North and South Island Secondary Schools Championships.
