Race Information


EVENTS
8:00 a.m. Certified 10-kilometer Road Race
8:20 a.m. 4.5-Mile Mayor's Fitness Walk                          7:30 a.m. Certified 5-kilometer Road Race

        

THE COURSES
The 10-kilometer course will begin with the traditional start up the Donald Street Hill, followed by a downhill to a flat, fast finish. The 5-kilometer course will start and finish near the Lamb Cottage in Skinner Butte Park, touring the bike paths and Alton Baker Park.  The course for the Mayor's Fitness Walk follows the flat portion of the Aquafina® Butte to Butte course (4.5 miles).

*Online registration will close on July 3 at 6pm.

The entry fee is $30 with tech shirt, $20 without a shirt through July 3. ONE child 12 and under is free in either Run or Walk when accompanied by an entered adult.  The entry fee for each additional child is $10 (T-shirts for kids receiving free entry may be purchased for $10 each.)

* Oregon Track Club members will receive a $5 discount on their entry.


*Please make check payable to BUTTE TO BUTTE. Mail completed entry form(s) with fee to BUTTE TO BUTTE, Box 5862, Eugene, OR 97405. Please do not mail cash. Mail entries must be postmarked by June 26.

IN-PERSON REGISTRATION
In-person entry may be made through June 28th at the Eugene Running Company (116 oakway Center), or at the Packet Pick-up area at the Hilton on July 1, 2 or 3, from 10am to 6pm.

                   

TEAM COMPETITION - Team Roster Form
Teams can be all male, all female, or coed, and can have an unlimited number of members. The first FIVE finishers on a team will have their times added for a total team time. Coed teams must have at least one female count in the team scoring.

The top three 10K teams in each division will receive awards. Divisions include: Elementary School, Middle School, High School, Collegiate, Open, Masters, Corporate, Seniors (60 & over), Government, and Running Clubs. School division participation is determined by the grade in school a participant completed in the past school year. The team in each division with the largest number of participants in the walk will receive an award. All members of a team need to register individually, listing their team affiliation on their entry, AND be included on the team roster submitted by their team captain. The entry deadline for entering a team is June 25 – no exceptions (no members will be added to teams after this date).

RACE CHALLENGES
The event will feature some exciting challenging competitions. Unique event garments and flowers will be presented to the male and female winners of the following competitions in the 10K run: Overall, Youth (Under 20), Masters (40-59), Seniors (60 & Over), King/Queen Of The Uphill (Mile 1), and King/Queen Of The Downhill (Corner of Fox Hollow & W. Amazon).

 

WATER STATIONS
The five water stations on the race course will be staffed by the employees, family and friends of several non-profit groups throughout our community.

CLOTHING SHUTTLE
At the start, vans will be available to transport partipants' gear to the finish.  Please make sure bags are clearly marked with name and bib number. 

 

STROLLERS
Families with strollers are welcome to participate.  The child in the stroller does not need to be registered.  There is no additional fee to have a stroller.  Please be advised that large strollers may not fit onto the shuttles taking participants to the start.  It is recommended that strollers line up at the start on the right side of the street, and make attempts to stay on the right throughout the event. 

 

DOGS ON THE COURSE
Dogs are not allowed in this event.

 

MEDICAL SUPPORT
Eugene Urgent Care will be on hand at the finish line for support, and providing roving medical technicians on bicycles along the race course for participant safety.

                        

 


PACKET PICKUP
Packet pickup and in-person registration will be held at the Eugene Hilton, on:
• Monday,
July 1, 10am to 6:00 pm
• Tuesday, July 2, 10am to 6:00 pm
• Wednesday, July 3, 10am to 6:00 pm
Thursday, July 4, 6am to 7:30am, at the start, 43rd & Donald Streets for the 10K and 4.5 mile - the 5K packets on race day will be available at the Lamb Cottage in Skinner Butte Park.
(Important Note: There is no race day registration!)

                      



SHUTTLES
Before the race, shuttles will depart every five minutes from the Breeze bus stop at the corner of 5th Avenue and Pearl Street (Runners only) or at the EWEB parking lot at 4th & Mill St (Walkers only).
• First Departure: 6:30 a.m.
• Last Departure: 7:30 a.m. (10K & 4.5m)
Please allow plenty of time to park your car and make the scheduled shuttles.  There are no shuttles for the 5K.

AWARDS
Awards are presented by Dr W. Gray Grieve, Orthodontist.  Prizes will be given to the first three female/male finishers overall, and to the top three female/male finishers in each age division in the 10-kilometer and 5-kilometer runs. There are no awards in 4.5 mile walk. Random drawings for all 10k, 5k and Walk participants will also be held.

                          

 

ALUMNI CHALLENGE 
A new tradition, started in 2009, will continue - the Alumni Challenge is a unique twist to the race results.  Race participants in the 10K, designate the high school they graduated from, then finishers are scored with an Age-Graded table based on age and sex, with the top scoring school (based on the five scorers) winning the challenge.  There's no extra registration necessary - just indicate a high school of graduation on your entry.

 

PRIZE MONEY
In the 10K only: The top three overall men and women will receive prize money ($200, $150, and $100 respectively).  The top masters (40 & Over) male and female finishers will receive $100.  The King and Queen of the Uphill and Downhill will each receive $50 per award.

OREGON TRACK CLUB
All profits from the Aquafina® Butte to Butte go to support the programs of the Oregon Track Club, including the summer all-comers’ meets for kids, promotional activities for the UO track teams, and maintenance of Pre’s Trail. OTC is a non-profit organization composed of volunteers. Visit our website at oregontrackclub.org.

T-SHIRTS
Aquafina® Butte to Butte event shirts are made of micromesh technical microfiber (Leslie Jordan brand), and will be available at packet pickup in the Hilton Hotel and at the start of the race. Every effort will be made to contact entrants who do not claim their T-shirts. Shirts unclaimed by August 1 will be donated to local charities.

                   



RACE PHOTOGRAPHS
Be sure to smile at the finish. Official race souvenir photographs will be available following the event. Check back to this site after the race for the link on the home page to view and purchase a photo of your finish.

 

THE ENVIRONMENT
Please be sure to help us out at the start and finish by using the appropriate waste and recycling receptacles.  Again this year, packet fliers will be replaced by an event program, aimed to reduce the waste of paper products. Back this year:  Virtual Race Bags - registrants providing an email address will be sent an electronic "packet" with special sponsor offers.  Event brochures and programs are printed on recycled paper, using 98% vegetable based ink.

TIMING
