Damn, that's a nice backround story. If you get anywhere close to the mileage you did in high school, that 5K PR will drop like a rock. Good Luck!

whats up chris. thanks for adding me as a friend. do hope you acheive the goal you are going after.it can be done.was a little worried that i would not be able to perform at all after my surgery, but i wanted it badly enough.i'm only two seconds slower than i was back in 1983 in high school(10.65). at the transplant games this summer,i ran a 13.15 in the 100m. and i'm 43 yrs. old with a transplanted heart. how much do you want it my friend?

This is a good place to be to try to get motivated. Welcome to RunnerSpace and best of luck, it's motivating to me to see so many people like yourself willing to go to work to get back into running.

Hey whats up everyone my name is Chris Mabe and I used to be one of the best runners in the state of North Carolina until I joined the marines and started working out alot.  I am from Winston-Salem, NC and went to Carver hight where I still hold records from 800 meters all the way up to 5000 meters.  I have been in the marines for 3 and a half years and I am about to reenlist for another 4.  I gave up running but now I am getting back in it as one day I hope to get anotehr PR in the 5000 meters.  If you want to know anything else come talk to me, laters
