I just got this note from a friend... Great news!
Team Cross Country Saved! The OSAA will not be eliminating team
qualifiers to the Oregon State Cross Country Meet. The cross- country
coaches committee will present two proposals to the championship
committee for consideration. The championship committee and coaches
committee are looking to qualify teams and individuals through a
regional concept with the intent to increase competition and reduce
cost. The hearing on Feb. 1st will now be held to hear the two
proposals from the coaches committee both of which maintain team
qualifiers at the state cross country meet.Team cross-country will remain. All of our voices were heard!
Check out the update story from Dave Devine at DyeStatNW (Oregon's OSAA hears from XC fans, loud and clear). Nice work Dave!
Hello everyone, I have learned that members of the OSAA have received e-mails that contain vulgar language and really serve no purpose. It is important that everyone concerned with this proposal act in a reasonable and adult manner. There is no need to insult the OSAA members. Instead we need to come together and explain how important our sport is to team building and the general lives of our high school student-athletes. As the saying goes actions speak louder then words so the ultimate show of support you can give is to come on the meeting on Feb. 1st.
Thanks for the Heads-UP. Now lets head out to the meeting.
Also I think its important to remember that the says that the committee is "investigating" reformatting the x-c format. Part of the purpose of having a public comment period on it is to hear from the public. Of course, we all know this is a bad idea. However, spamming the committee member's inbox's is also a bad idea. It should be sufficient to sign any online petition and show up at the meeting to voice any concern. The meeting is 9 am 2/1 in Wilsonville: 25200 Southwest Parkway Avenue. So show up if you can. Many bodies will clearly mean more than many signatures or many members of a facebook group.
come on osaa step up here!!!
Is anyone willing to film/upload the meeting to the site for the people that can't make it?
Kelly, I set up the online petition and will be attending the 2/1 meeting along with a few of my current club teammates.
Someone has posted an on-iine petition at:

Save Oregon High School Cross Country!
Spread the word, get photos up, let's show OSAA how important this is not just to the state of Oregon, but to the whole US.
Is anyone going to attend their meeting on 2/1? People should show up and make a statement as to how dumb this idea actually is. (There was a recent article about how they were expanding the 6a team sport state spots -- why cut this one?)
