Kaczka steps up the pace for Canes cross country
Greg Kaczka didn’t take to running until he was at Deep Run High School in Glen Allyn, Va. When he did, Kaczka took it to a high quality level.
“I wasn’t competitive at first, until my junior and senior years,” Kaczka said.
As a senior he was all-state in indoor and outdoor events. He was fifth at state in the 1000 meter indoor race and his team in the 4x800 indoor relay was fifth. Outdoors he ran to second place in the state 800 meter competition.
When he chose the University of Miami to continue running it was based as much on academics as well as it being a Division I school. Now a junior, he is one of the team’s top runners in cross country and track, on his way to a degree in finance.
Damon Griffiths, assistant cross country and track coach, has seen Kaczka develop.
