Shenandoah Picked to Defend Women's Cross Country Title
(FAYETTEVILLE, N.C.) - Shenandoah University, under the direction of six-year Head Coach Andrew Marrocco, was picked in the preseason coaches' poll to defend its USA South Athletic Conference women's cross country title in 2011. Last season, the Hornets captured the championship for the first time in the program's history.
Shenandoah received six of nine first place votes (62 points) as head coaches do not vote for their own teams in the balloting.
Christopher Newport University, 14-time USA South Champions, finished second in the balloting with 58 points and the final three first place votes while Meredith College placed third with 46 points. Rounding out the top-five were Mary Baldwin College and Methodist University who collected 42 and 39 points, respectfully.
