After a few people's input, I wanted to put down what could be our new list of forums and subforums to get your feedback. Also looking for feedback on the description and order of each one. Thanks for the help!

------New RunnerSpace Forums------

Non-track (The off-topic forum for things like Politics, sports, TV, movies, celebs etc. It's like the playground for all you Dyestatters)
Gear (This is the place to discuss the stuff we train and race in. Spikes, the latest training shoes and your favorite athlete's stuff too)
Training (This is the place to discuss your favorite workouts, pre-race meals, training locations, etc)
College (Talk about college runners, teams and results... NCAA, NAIA & JUCO talk)
Elite/Pro (Professional track and field and Road Racing talk)
High School General
-High School Elite (Posts pertaining to NXN, NIN, NBN, FL, NSIC, AAU, JO and USATF and other national meets, and ALSO elite level HS competition in general.)
-Northwest: AK, HI, ID, MT, OR, WA, WY
-Southwest: AZ, CO, NM, NV, UT
--NV (Nevada has a subforum in Southwest because of NevadaTrackStats)
-Heartland: IA, KS, MN, ND, NE, SD, WI
-South: AR, LA, MS, OK, TX
-Midwest: IL, IN, MI, MO, OH
-Southeast: AL, DC, DE, FL, GA, KY, MD, NC, SC, TN, VA, WV

Special (we could make subforums to go here for key websites that don't fit in any category above like usajumper or nxn or ntn or hammer throwing etc etc)

------Help and Feedback------
Help (this is the place for questions about the site, forums, videos, team sits, event creation etc)
Suggestions (Wish to see something added or changed with RunnerSpace.com? All suggestions welcome.)

I think that as good as specificity may be, there is a lot of merit to combining a few of the forums. General Discussion and Non-Track both seem to be mutually inclusive of one another. Too many subtopics can get a forum prospect lost and/or confused about where to go.

I would even suggest combining training and gear. Very similar topics and seem to be not super active on any forum out there. might as well have them in one spot

How about all sub-forum topics are also put into the main forum. Example: I start a new topic in the Nevada forum. This topic heading should show up on the Southwest Region sub-forum and also inside the main High School forum. All replies to this topic will only show up in the Nevada forum, but the main starting topic will show up inside all the forums that are above it in the hierarchy.

  • General
    • High School
      • Southwest Region
        • Nevada

The topic may not have to show all the way up to the General forum, but I think it should at least make it up to the High School forum. This way all the topics people post can be as specific or as general as they want, but it will be seen by anyone who opens the High School forum.

Guys, I hope this isn't taken as an insult, but this forum is a real mess. There are just way too many sub-forums. 34 forums?! There might be enough content altogether to justify 2 separate forums, but even that is a stretch. In the 34 forums, 8 have new posts to them today. Some have not had posts in nearly half a year. LetsRun does just fine with one main board. No need to copy it with the lack of registration and issues that can cause, but it's dramatically easier to scan through the threads in one place. If you want them to be filed away in those 34 sub-forums AS WELL for easy reference, that's great, but there should be one forum that shows all the threads.

Does that make sense?

This is a three year old thread, but I've been in favor of Shane's idea:

I see value in having many of the states separated into their own forums as they are now -- much easier to identify topics of interest when people don't list the state in the title (which they rarely do) -- but being able to see everything going on throughout the region, via a main forum grouping, would get more people viewing what's going on outside their own little bubble.

That would be cool but not really possible.
