Forum Captain Expectations

Daily
- HAVE FUN
- Post regularly.
- Engage other users on the forum with thoughtful discussion. Answer questions, ask questions; create interesting topics, encourage others to create topics by joining in conversations. Don't dominate the forum/discussions. Being the cool kid on the street doesn't mean you have to shout over everybody.
- Only post relevant news threads in your forum. IE - Doesn't mean you can't discuss Edward Cheserek out in California but do it in a way that would be interesting to some kid in Sacramento.
- Monitor assigned forums for signs of foul play, misuse of forum, posting in wrong forums, etc. We'll allow freedom of speech so long as it's not abusive, spam, or illegal (Porn, links to phishing sites, etc).
- Alert Mods of threads/posts that need to be
A - moved to an appropriate forum
B - Merged with perviously existing threads (Example - We don't need 10 NXN prediction threads)
C - Deletion for violation of forum rules.
- Expect that some silly threads will end up in state or region forums. That will happen. Posters should be encouraged to post non-running related threads in The Playground but sometimes they can be appropriate for other forums (Really Ridiculously Good Looking Runners thread was in Illinois, but it was mostly Illinois kids talking about fast kids.)
- Alert Mods of users that might need to be banned for violation of forum rules. Will need to provide examples of abuse before a user is banned.
- DO NOT BE AFRAID TO GET INVOLVED IN OTHER FORUMS. We don't want to create a walled in community where users never venture out to other areas. Feel free to get involved in discussions in other regions. Sharing of ideas makes everyone better.
Weekly
-If you a captain of a specific state or region, submit your top marks every week via creating a forum post each Sunday. SteveU will select the top marks to be nominated for the DyeStat Performer of the Week poll.
-Got something really cool to share? Check to see if it already made one of the national boards and if not post about it.
-We will be automatically posting the best 20 or so high school results from around the country into the state / region boards, so you don't' have to worry about posting those, if we missed one, you can add it yourself. Just keep in mind that the number of meet results will fluctuate depending on the time of year but you shouldn't have more than 5 or 6 results threads created every week (with the auto posted and your additions combined). They should be meets with large percentages of elite marks. We don't want to flood forums with results threads so be choosey. Then comment on each results thread with the top marks from the meet. Using the TFX standards is a good place to start for that.
-Posting hot news should be treated similarly to the results.
Miscellaneous
- Expect The Playground to be a silly place.
- Be excited that you're involved in the site. Let others know that you're doing something cool.
- Encourage others to visit the site, use the site and get involved.
- Share DyeStat content on your Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, etc. The easiest and cheapest way to spread the word about the site is for people using the site to share and discuss it.
- From time to time we'll have contests, Q&A sessions, polls, etc on the national boards. If you have an idea feel free to share with Chris.
- Help site editors stay on top of top stories, videos, photos, etc with regular updates.

Forum Captains, if you haven't done so already make sure you create a welcome to the forum note and post it to you forum (DyeStatCal example). Let us know when it's done so we can make sure it's pinned to the top of your board.

Washington/Oregon is up and running; welcome message pinned. Do we have any other sub-forum moderators, such as Watchout?

One more thing for you guys captaining state boards. Get a college commitments thread going and get people to post their updates there!
Do we then pass along the updates to someone for TFX entry, or is it more informational in nature?

John Dixon...Ready to Roll
Hi John, I updated your member title to this "Nevada Forum Captain, RunnerSpace.com/NV Editor", let me know if that won't work (I could say RunnerSpace.com/NV big dog or something ).
Also, can you change your member name from [email protected] to John Dixon of RS/NV
You can post a welcome message in the NV board now, Chris can pin it as well if you like.

We'll have the TFX crew check those threads for updates.
