Homepage

The 2013 Nike Pre-Nationals will be held on Saturday, September 28th, on the NXN course at Portland Meadows. Last year's meet drew over 100 high schools schools and 3500+ athletes from eight states. It was a great day for all involved, and a great day for our sport. The meet continues to be a season highlight for many teams as we offer a festive atmosphere that allows for a wonderful experience for our youth.

I recommend sending your entry in ASAP (Sign up form on the brochure), as each division is limited to 25 teams. Please remember to be realistic when entering your team in a particular division (it is rare to see a team score under 100 points regardless of division). Please follow the guidelines below when choosing a division:

Jim Danner Champs: Team that will be top 10 in their state.

Division 1: Teams that will qualify out of their league meet.

Division 2: Teams that will be in the top half of their league.

Division 3: Teams in the building phase of their program.

In addition to the above varsity races, Nike Pre-Nationals has grade level JV races. Traditionally, September is a very dry month in Portland, so it is expected that the course should be moderately fast. The top five teams in all varsity divisions receive team plaques and the top 40 individuals in ALL high school races are awarded medals. Additionally, a Nike sponsored athlete will be in attendance to sign autographs and hand out merchandise.

Aloha High School looks forward to hosting your team at the 2013 Nike Pre-Nationals. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

Sincerely,

Ken Martinez

This is one of the most amazing meets I've ever run in and I'm incredably excited to get to run it again! The meet is run smothly and the course itself is incredably clean... can't wait for the mole hills!

I ran Pre-Nationals last year, and it was just a great time. Music, freebies (loved the freebies), and amazing runners from all over the country. I hear the course this year has haybales! So I am quite excited for those!

What an edition of the NPN is on tap for this Saturday! The #3 boys team in the nation (Trabuco Hills) and the #9 girls team in the nation (Redondo Union) in the Jim Danner Championship? Plus a bunch of super fast teams from California, Arizona, Texas, Nevada, Washington, and Oregon? I am really excited to see how all the races turn out judging by all the entries (over 3600 at last count!) it is gonna be a super day to be a cross country fan! Each of the 4 varsity divisions are going to be really competitive. My wife even gets to cheer for her old high school team from San Diego compete. Go Patrick Henry Patriots!

Last year, measurements, splits, and finish times, strongly suggested the course was about 100-110m short. Are there any changes from the NPN layout from last year?

Magic 8 Ball says that Redondo Union girls are going to destroy the entire field and make a strong argument for unseating FM at the top of the rankings. Bunch of cold-blooded assassins in pigtails. You heard it here first.

What a great opportunity to come down from Seattle for the weekend -- and to see my nephew running for my old high school team.

Good luck, Patrick Henry Patriots!
