As a cross country specialist, Simon Bairu takes on all-comers: they lined up every distance runner in the NCAA and he took them down... twice. Cast the net wider, and he comes home 13th in the world. Now, it's your chance to compete.

The man is sans nickname and whoever can come up with the best one will take home a "Rookies Vs the World" prize pack, featuring a "Rookies Vs the World" t-shirt, a DVD of the entire series (plus bonus features), and a few other throw-ins that we'll be wrangling during Race Week.

To enter: post your nickname suggestion below as a reply to this thread OR tweet it with the hashtag #RookiesVsWorld (preceeded by "Simon Bairu = ") -- we will select FIVE finalists and put it to a vote: the nickname receiving the most votes in our Live Chat on Friday November 5th will be declared the winner. So put on your thinking cap and get crackalackin'. And once you submit an entry, put your friends to work: the entry receiving the most upvotes in the forum, and the entry retweeted the most times will each receive an automatic spot as a finalist.

Fine Print: Contestants can enter up to three submissions. Upon submission, entrants confer intellectual property rights for their contest entry upon KIMbia Athletics, Runnerspace.com, and the New York Road Runners and their affiliates. Have fun. That is all.

The Swoosh from Saskabush: the Swoosh is an obvious nod to his sponsor and Saskabush is a nickname for his home province of Saskatchewan. Nothing really rhymes with Saskatchewan!

Hey, were you wondering "If I enter this contest, what would the t-shirt I might win look like?" In case you were wondering that, wonder no longer:

Posted Image

This could LITERALLY** be you! (Final t-shirt design may vary very, very slightly. But you get the idea, at least.)

**Not literally. Unless you happen to be the model who posed for that stock photo, and you (that model) are now reading this. And you enter and win this contest. And wear the shirt you win in just such a pose. THEN (and only then) could this LITERALLY be you. But all the rest of you should still enter the contest.
