To-do:
Run 2.5 hrs and explore a new trail--check
Dig a 30' trench by hand--check
Wash cars--check
Watch Ducks beat 'SC--check.

That's a good day.

Because the moon was much higher, and brighter than usual, we
followed suit. That is, the six of us lingered a bit longer on top
....... no wind, just so pleasant, with more beverage intake than
usual. JJ brought Blondie (her first) and we howled and carried on
like we were normal. Nancy thought maybe 'not so much'. But
she was a gamer and shuffled right along .... standard up and south
route down. We do enjoy it. Perhaps you'll join us soon. tongue.gif

It seemed brighter than usual, but maybe it was the "Kick-a Poy- Joy-Juice" (you've got to be old to get that reference). A good Day of the Dead gathering but was missing OGG and Solo. We get two chances in December with a Blue Moon on New Years Eve.

Two great runs up river this week. One hour out and back on MRT Tues afternoon. Going during the week this time of year usually gets you the trail to yourself. I had hoped to get back up high off 242 with a Linton Lake access but was surprised to find out that ODOT had closed the highway @ the lower gate. This made me study the map to look @ all the ways to get up higher off 126. I chose the Robinson Lake/Benson Lake trail. This starting point has great potential for next summer for a big loop with several lakes and a summitt of Scott Mt thrown in. Did a nice 2 1/2 hour out and back once again having a trail all to myself. I was pumped to think that I had found something new for us but alas Yoda informed me he had been up that trail years ago with Todd.

I believe we just heard from one of our favorite distant
distance runners, huh? Been a while. Good for you kid.
Can't keep the E girl down for long. Yea !!!!!

So 12 miles has been a good week for me the last couple
of months. Tried not to let it get me down. So on the same
note, I'll temper any excitement about doing a rock quarry
12 with Rondola this morning, but boy it felt good. It proves
nothing, but it should be a step in the right direction.

JJ and OG started out with us up Wyhsr, headed for a big
Hills Creek-Koozer-Kintigh country 16. Gene and JJ have
become a nice match of talent and strength, with Gene
becoming fearless and relentless up those big logging
road climbs. It will be fun to hear their report.

Of course the rest of us hope to get back with those
guys this winter. One step at a time ............ cool.gif

You've all heard of Indiana Jones....my guide today was Cedar Flat Skinner. This wiley coyote lead me on a windy, rolly run up logging roads, down jeep trails and across the Cedar Divide. We'd head down a logging road and come to a dead-end. CF Skinner would head straight into the wall of trees, pop onto a trail and off we'd go. The way he stitched this route together, I'm thinkin' he's using some kind of Coyote String Theory. Good thing CF didnt bring his bull whip, I was laggin'....

Nebo road was guns, guts, and glory, today; a precious war zone with 30.06' cannons blazing, piles of guts next to the road, diesel pick-ups roaring by, hunters scowling, some smiling, some......stopin' and talkin'.........."what the hell you doin' up here?".........How'd you get up here?" Guns and guts were just the start. With the entire lower ramp road felled and left for dead, it was a truly special quarter mile sneak over logs.......under branches. By the the foot of the ramp, it was time for this old man to turn it around and hit the guns 'n guts gauntlet once again on the way down. What did I expect? Guns, guts and glory; a summitless Nebo........but the 16th for the year. Soitainly! Zipitty Doo Dah!! Precious!! tongue.gif

Chaser--I kept expecting to see hunters but never did. JJ--lagging? As if! Sharing some of the cool stuff I've discovered was extremely satisfying and may have even provided me with a little extra kick. Can't wait to get the rest of you up there.

I've been periodically getting the feeling back in my foot. It's off and on, but a positive sign nonetheless...

Twenty Three Squared
Rick wants me to run Seattle with him in 3 weeks. I've been running but not marathon training while he just ran Victoria last month in 2:54. So I set out to work hard over three weeks and see where I was before making a final decision to join. I suppose I'll sign up tonight. Last Sunday I introduced him to our South Lake Washington Loop. 23 Miles. I finished stronger than I expected. So we did it again today and were 4 minutes faster, we were running sub 3 pace the last 4-5 miles. I felt pretty strong, not sub 3 strong but go enjoy your local marathon strong anyway.....

Spent almost 5 hours and 21.5 miles with my old friend Bonk exploring too many long, steep dead-ends. Wish you were there, but you can be glad you weren't. On the positive side, I found a trail from lower Clemens to lower Greenhouse.

I'm pretty sure you got some of the gene out of our founding pioneer: Eugene Skinner.
Question: 5 hrs, 21 miles - what did you eat and drink?

Eat: Nothing. Drink: half a bottle of water. Hence the bonk?
