Tim Hendry led Speed River to a big weekend in Nashville and London with strong showings in the shot put. Hendry crushed his personal best twice in one weekend with a personal best throw of 18.45 in the shot put on Sunday in London, Ontario which was nearly 70 centimetres further than his personal best at the start of the weekend. His performance ranks him third in the country and betters the standard for qualifying for the World University Games by over 70 centimetres.

Speed River was also in at the Music City Distance Carnival in Nashville on Saturday night. Reid Coolsaet led the Speed River group capturing the win in the men’s 5000 metres with a time of 13 minutes 51.23 seconds to break the meet record. Teammate Alex Genest also landed on the podium finishing second in the men’s 3000 metre steeplechase race in a time of 8 minutes 40.06 seconds. In the women’s steeplechase Meredith Macgregor led the Speed River contingent running a personal best time of 10 minutes 5.6 seconds to place fourth, with teammate Dana Buchanan just behind her in sixth place with a time of 10 minutes 10.96 seconds.

Rounding out a busy weekend was Kyle Boorsma’s win at London Distance Runner meet, Boorsma led a Speed River sweep in the men’s 1500 metres recording a time of 3 minutes 45.86 seconds, Rob Jackson was second in 3 minutes 47.56 seconds, with Allan Brett third in 3 minutes 47.64 seconds.
