Eugene, Oregon – By: Mark Rinker – OTCelite.com. OTC Elite led by Nick Symmonds, the defending USA Indoor National Champion in the 800 meters will be heading to Boston, Massachusetts for the upcoming AT&T USA Indoor Track & Field Championships (February 23rd-24th). Symmonds is returning to the Reggie Lewis Track & Athletic Center where he was victorious at last year’s Championships. OTC will be sending the largest team it has ever sent to the Indoor Nationals, with a total 12 athletes competing in the middle distance, distance and relay events. The Championships in Boston will also determine the USA’s team to compete in the IAAF World Indoor Championships in Valencia, Spain on March 7th-9th. To earn a spot on the World Team OTC’s athletes will be looking for top two finish’s in the highly competitive event.

In the men’s 800 meters Nick Symmonds will be joined by a large contingent of OTC teammates. The impressive list includes 2005 USA Indoor 800 meter Champion Kevin Hicks and Christian Smith, the former NCAA Indoor Mile Champion. Also entered in the 800 for OTC is 2006 PAC-10 400 meter Champion Matt Scherer, he will be joined by another former 400 meter ace, 2003 NCAA 400 meter Champion Adam Steele. Representing OTC Elite in the women’s 800 meters will be 2002 and 2003 Indoor 800 meter National Champion and 2004 Olympian, Nicole Teter. Currently ranked third in the U.S., Teter is looking to regain her 800 meter crown and return to the World Indoor Championships.

The men’s 1,500 meters will feature OTC Elite’s Will Leer and Sean O’Brien. Both Leer and O’Brien are sub four minute milers who are looking to make an impact in the finals of the 1,500 during Sunday’s action. In the men’s 3,000 Bolota Asmerom and John Jefferson will be looking to make the World Team with top two finishes. Both Asmeron and Jefferson will be making their 3,000 debuts this indoor season as they both qualified by running under the 5,000 meter standard at the UW Invitational. OTC will also field a men’s Distance Medley Relay in Boston, the final roster for the relay will be determined following Saturday’s prelims, however Brandon Shaw and Kevin Elliott both fresh off 800 meter Indoor Personal Bests last weekend will look to make an impact on the relay.
