NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The USA South announced today that senior Corey Lofton was named the USA South Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week and Sam Martin was named the Men's Cross Country Rookie of the Week. This comes after a sixth place team finish in the Dickinson Long/Short Invitational this weekend.
Lofton led the Captains in the 4000m finishing 13th out of 166 with a time of 12:56. Martin came in at 13:41 placing him 50th in the race. The Captains combined for 95 points in the 4000m putting them in 10th place.
The 4000m scores were combined with the long course scores to give the Captains an overall sixth place finish in the Invitational.
The Captains compete again next weekend as they travel to Salisbury, Md. for the Don Cathcart Invitational.
